Muira puama (Ptychopetalum olacoides) is a bush that grows in the Amazon region. The wood and root are used in traditional Brazilian medicine.
Muira puma contains many active chemicals, but it's not clear what effects they may have on the body.
People sometimes use muira puama for athletic performance, sexual disorders, joint pain, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.
